Setup guide
Connect your Facebook Page to GoSmash
Once your Page is connected, every Messenger message to your venue lands in your GoSmash chat inbox, and the GoSmash AI agent answers it in seconds, day and night: prices, open slots, bookings and payment steps.
You and your staff see these chats in the same inbox as your website chat and Instagram, and you can take over any conversation at any time. Messenger is included in GoSmash Pro.
One extra step for now. Meta is still reviewing the GoSmash Facebook app, so we first add you as a tester on our app (see "First: get added as a tester"). That only lets you connect your Page. Once it's connected, every customer's Messenger message reaches the AI agent, testers or not.
Before you start
Check these first. Most failed connections come from the first one.
- Full control of your Facebook Page. On Facebook, switch to your Page, then open Settings & privacy > Settings > Page setup > Page access. Under "People with Facebook access", your name should list Page Deletion and Permissions. If it doesn't, ask whoever made the Page to give you full control, or have them follow this guide instead.

Full control: your entry lists Page Deletion and Permissions. - Your GoSmash chat login. The email and password GoSmash gave you for chat.gosmash.cc.
- A computer. Use Chrome, Edge or Safari. The GoSmash chat phone app can't connect a Page.
- Pop-ups allowed for chat.gosmash.cc. Facebook opens in a pop-up window.
- Other auto-replies off, once the AI is on. When GoSmash confirms the AI agent is on (step 13), switch off Meta Business Suite instant replies and away messages, and any other chatbot (like ManyChat), so customers don't get two answers.
First: get added as a tester
Do this once, a day before you connect. It's how Facebook lets you connect your Page while Meta reviews our app.
- AMessage GoSmash at m.me/aeroljohn with the link to your Facebook profile, the account that has full control of your Page. To copy a profile link, open the profile, click the ··· button, then Copy link.
- BWe add you as a tester on the GoSmash app. Facebook sends you a notification, usually the same day.
- COn a computer, logged in to that Facebook account, open developers.facebook.com/requests and click Confirm on the GoSmash invite. If Facebook first asks you to register as a Meta developer, follow its prompts. It's free and takes about 2 minutes (you verify your phone or email).
- DMessage GoSmash "Tester invite accepted". You're ready to connect.
Connect your Page, step by step
You start in GoSmash chat, log in to Facebook in a pop-up, then finish back in GoSmash chat.
Part 1In GoSmash chat
- 1Go to chat.gosmash.cc and log in with your GoSmash chat email and password.

- 2In the left menu, click Settings, then Inboxes.
- 3
- 4
Part 2On Facebook (pop-up window)
Facebook asks a few questions in a pop-up window. Some screens only show up for some accounts, so skip any you don't see.
- 5
- 6Log in with the Facebook account you added as a tester, then click Continue as (your name). It can ask twice, once for Facebook and once for Meta: click Continue both times. If it says the app hasn't been reviewed by Meta yet, that's expected.
- 7
- 8Only if Facebook asks:
- Businesses: keep the business that owns your venue's Page ticked, then click Continue.
- Instagram accounts: pick Opt in to current Instagram accounts only, then click Continue. Your Instagram connects to GoSmash separately, so nothing else is needed here.
- 9
- 10
Part 3Back in GoSmash chat
- 11
- 12
- 13When you see Your Inbox is ready!, message GoSmash on Messenger at m.me/aeroljohn: "Messenger connected, (your venue name)". We switch the AI agent on for your new inbox, usually the same day.

What Facebook asks you to allow
| Line in step 9 | Why it's there |
|---|---|
| Manage and access Page conversations in Messenger | To receive customer messages and send the AI agent's replies |
| Manage accounts, settings, and webhooks, and access content enforcement data for a Page | So Facebook sends new messages to GoSmash the moment they arrive |
| Read content posted on the Page | To show your Page name and picture in the inbox |
| Show a list of the Pages you manage | So you can pick your Page in step 7 |
| Manage your business | Only shown when your Page belongs to a business portfolio |
| The two Instagram lines | Facebook always lists them on this screen. GoSmash doesn't use them for Messenger |
GoSmash never posts on your Page, and it only reads Messenger chats.
Check that it works
Once GoSmash confirms the AI agent is on, send one test message. It takes 2 minutes.
- 1Use a different Facebook account from yours, such as a staff member's or a friend's, so you see the chat the way a customer does.
- 2Open your Page on Facebook and tap Message.
- 3Ask something a customer would, like "Do you have a slot at 6pm tomorrow?"
- 4
- 5
No reply after 5 minutes? See the next section.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Facebook says the app isn't available, or the feature is unavailable | Your tester invite isn't accepted yet, or you logged in with a different Facebook account. Accept it at developers.facebook.com/requests (step C), then start again from step 5. |
| Your Page isn't in the list (step 7 or 11) | You don't have full control of the Page. Get it (see Before you start), then start again from step 3. If you ticked the wrong Page, click Edit previous settings in the Facebook pop-up. |
| The Facebook pop-up is blank or closes at once | Allow pop-ups for chat.gosmash.cc, turn off ad blockers for that site, and try Chrome. |
| The chat shows in GoSmash but the AI doesn't reply | GoSmash hasn't switched the AI agent on yet (step 13), or someone on your team took over that chat. Message GoSmash if it's been more than a day. |
| Customers get two replies | Another auto-reply is still on. Turn off Business Suite instant replies, away messages and other chatbots. |
| Your staff's reply won't send | Facebook only lets businesses reply within 24 hours of the customer's last message. Ask the customer to message again. |
| The inbox says the connection expired | Someone changed the Facebook password or lost Page access. Go to Settings > Inboxes > Facebook Messenger and click Reauthorize, then repeat steps 5 to 10. |
Still stuck? Message GoSmash at m.me/aeroljohn with a screenshot of what you see.
Disconnecting or switching Pages
You can disconnect at any time, from either side.
- In GoSmash chat: go to Settings > Inboxes, find Facebook Messenger and click the delete (trash) icon. Your Messenger chats are removed from GoSmash, but they stay on Facebook.
- On Facebook: go to Settings and privacy > Settings > Business integrations, select GoSmash and click Remove.
- Switching to another Page: delete the old inbox, repeat steps 1 to 13 with the new Page, and let GoSmash know so we switch the AI agent on again.
